As a family photographer based close to Skipton, I love to capture nature loving families.

My work as a family photographer takes in the Yorkshire countryside as a key element to the style in which I work.

I’m a photographer who relishes finding the most beautiful natural locations for a family photo shoot and I have worked in locations such as Ilkley Moor, Yorkshire Dales villages and many of the rolling hills surrounding the area where I’m based. 

And in capturing families in natural light in a relaxed setting, I can focus on them spending time together and enjoying the countryside setting.

If you’re unsure about what to expect on a family photo shoot, here are a few tips that will help along with some photographs that I recently captured in North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas of Ripon:-

Firstly, relax. That’s my biggest tip! I’ve been a professional photographer for 12 years or so now so I fully understand and appreciate that there will be an element of nerves in being photographed professionally. But worry not! I have lots of patience and with children and dogs, it’s all about ensuring things feel settled and at ease in order for me to capture the most natural moments. 

My next tip is to trust me as your photographer. I’ll always start off with what I call “warm up” shots so that we all get used to each other. These are warm ups for both you and me! You’ll become used to me in a very short amount of time and I’ll also be able to get used to how you feel and what works best – because every single family photo shoot is different, but within ten minutes or so, things will start to feel a little less daunting and a little more enjoyable!

Enjoy it! What I really love to capture is moments you’ll look back on to treasure in years to come….those precious times you spent together. This is really why I’m a family photographer here in Yorkshire. I know just how fast time goes, how quickly little ones grow up, how time seems to flit by in the blink of an eye. With my camera I can freeze those moments in time for you, so that you have them to look back on forever. 

And whilst I love to work as a family photographer in the Yorkshire countryside, I am always happy to travel and to work in locations with a more urban feel or in somewhere that might be special to you as a family.
