My
story
About Kathryn
The countryside inspires my work and you’ll often see my photographs taking in the Yorkshire landscape and surroundings.
I love the countryside – there’s nothing better than stepping out in all weathers for a walk with my dog to clear the head, listen to birds singing and experience the changing seasons. I love to crunch through the autumn leaves or see the first signs of snowdrops peeping through as spring knocks on our door with hope and delight. Rounding off a walk with a great coffee in a lovely location makes for a perfect time spent in my book!
When I’m not working with my camera, you’ll find me at my piano; it’s a place that touches my soul when I play and my love of music is a big part of my story.
Also at the heart of my story is my Mum, my Granny and Grandad (also a photographer) who all inspired me in different ways to pick up a camera and learn this wonderful craft. And my brand name – An Open Book – originates via my Mum who used to describe me as such.
She would always say that people knew exactly where they were with me – and that’s also what I like to show in my work as a photographer; telling a story with authenticity, heart and soul is very much my aim.
So you could say that photography and the business I have created are very much part of my heritage. And my heart always sings when I create beautiful portraits as treasured memories for a family, as brand stories that work perfectly for a creative business or to celebrate the most special times in people’s lives.
